One-Day Emergency First Aid at Work Course (RQF)

In accordance with Health & Safety regulations, employers are now required to provide a safe working environment for their staff. As part of your risk assessment, if the need for qualified first aiders is identified, this national Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) award meets the standards set by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).

Course Overview:

  • This comprehensive one-day first aid course covers a wide range of scenarios and emergencies.
  • Participants will learn how to confidently handle emergency situations swiftly, safely, and effectively.

Qualsafe Level 1 & 2 Award in Fire Safety Awareness (RQF)

The Qualsafe Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification that aims to enhance learners’ understanding of fire safety in the workplace. By completing this qualification, individuals can contribute to maintaining a safe environment for themselves and others.

The content of the qualification is based on National Occupational Standards (NOS) related to fire safety awareness and incorporates the recommended best practices outlined by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

This qualification is suitable for individuals who wish to gain a basic understanding of fire safety in the workplace. The course, which spans half a day, covers fundamental fire safety principles such as identifying causes of workplace fires, understanding basic fire safety responsibilities, implementing fire risk control measures, and proper usage of portable fire-fighting equipment, among other topics.

Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Fire Safety (RQF)

The Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Fire Safety (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification that aims to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of fire safety management and the specific roles and responsibilities associated with fire safety in the workplace.

This qualification is intended for individuals who hold a specific responsibility for fire safety, such as designated fire wardens or fire marshals.

Throughout the one-day course, learners will enhance their knowledge and skills in fire safety. The topics covered include understanding the causes of fires, identifying the risks associated with fire, principles of fire safety management in the workplace, and comprehending the duties and responsibilities of a fire warden, among other relevant subjects.

Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling (RQF)

The Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification that aims to enhance learners’ understanding of safer manual handling practices. This qualification provides individuals with the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in handling objects and materials in a safe manner.

The intended audience for this qualification is all employees, as it is designed to raise awareness about the risks associated with unsafe manual handling practices. It is particularly beneficial for individuals who are involved in tasks such as handling deliveries, parcels, and boxes as part of their job responsibilities.

During the half-day course, learners will gain a comprehensive understanding of manual handling, including common injuries related to manual handling, principles of safe movement, theoretical aspects of safe manual handling, and proper usage of manual handling equipment.

Please note that this qualification does not include practical sessions. Those requiring practical training should undertake the Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling (RQF).

Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling (RQF)

Manual handling is a leading cause of workplace injuries, making adequate training essential for the safety of all employees. Not only is it a legal requirement, but it also plays a crucial role in preventing accidents. According to the law, employers are obligated to provide sufficient training to individuals who regularly engage in manual handling tasks as part of their job responsibilities.

The Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling (RQF) is a nationally recognised and regulated qualification specifically designed for individuals currently working or planning to work in roles that involve manual handling. This qualification is well-suited for various work environments, including warehouses and shops.

Throughout the one-day course, participants will learn the fundamental principles of manual handling and how to apply them effectively in their specific workplace settings. They will also have the opportunity to practice a wide range of techniques, ensuring they leave the course with confidence and proficiency in safe moving and handling practices.

Emergency Paediatric First Aid

Would you know what to do if you saw an infant or child in need of first aid? Having a good understanding of emergency paediatric first aid is incredibly important for the safety of children and it could mean the difference between life and death.

Intended Audience

The QA Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) qualification has been designed in-line with the current Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements and is ideal for:
* Those who have gained a level 2 or 3 childcare qualification and have entered into an early years setting and wish to be included in the staff to child ratios to comply with the EYFS requirements.
* Anyone who cares for infants and children, such as parents, guardians, grandparents or those who have an involvement with infants and children and want to learn key paediatric first aid skills. Successful candidates will learn the roles and responsibilities of the emergency paediatric first aider, and will be equipped with the skills needed to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations, such as performing CPR and controlling external bleeding.

Newly qualified entrants to an early years setting who have completed a level 2 and/or level 3 qualification on or after 30th June 2016, must also have either a full Paediatric First Aid or an Emergency Paediatric First Aid certificate within three months of starting work.

Combined First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid

By combining the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) and the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) into a three-day extended classroom learning experience, this specially designed course equips learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide both adult and paediatric first aid. The course is designed to minimize the number of training days required to achieve both qualifications.

The Combined First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid course is tailored to eliminate redundant topics typically covered in separate First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid courses. It is specifically designed for individuals who work in settings that require both First Aiders and Paediatric First Aiders, such as schools, sports clubs, or childcare facilities.

Over the course of three extended days, learners will develop the knowledge and practical competencies needed to administer effective first aid for adults, children, and infants. Topics covered include CPR and AED use, managing choking incidents, stroke recognition and response, head injuries, fractures, asthma management, and more. Please note that learners will be required to retake the full three-day course in order to requalify.

Assessment methods for this course include two multiple-choice question papers and eight practical assessments.

Upon successful completion of the course, learners will receive two personalized e-Certificates immediately after their results have been submitted, subject to the Center’s Direct Claims Status and any necessary actions. Printed certificates are available for an additional fee (please refer to our Fees and Charges list for details).

The certifications obtained upon completion of this combined course are:
– Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF)
– Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF)

Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (RQF)

International guidelines for resuscitation emphasize the importance of training in the utilization of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to save lives. This regulated and nationally recognized qualification offers learners the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge in basic life support (BLS) and the effective use of AEDs during emergency situations.

This Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (RQF) qualification is specifically designed for individuals who have a particular interest or responsibility in their workplace, voluntary work, or community activities to provide BLS and use an AED when responding to emergencies.

Throughout the duration of the half-day course, participants will acquire the necessary knowledge and practical competencies to confidently handle various first aid scenarios and utilize an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely. The topics covered include managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR techniques, AED usage for adults and children, the integration of AED use with CPR, and more. This qualification can be taken as a standalone course, requiring a minimum of 3 hours and 40 minutes, or added as an additional module (1.5 hours excluding breaks) to other first aid qualifications that share the same assessment criteria.

Qualsafe Level 2 Award in First Aid Essentials (RQF)

This qualification, which is regulated and nationally recognized, equips learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to administer timely, effective, and safe first aid in various care scenarios.

Target Audience
The Qualsafe Level 2 Award in First Aid Essentials (RQF) qualification is specifically designed for individuals who hold responsibilities at their workplace or engage in voluntary and community activities where providing basic first aid to the individuals under their care is required.

Course Overview
In this one-day course, participants will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to handle a range of first aid situations. Topics covered include managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, dealing with choking incidents, addressing external bleeding, managing shock, and providing aid for minor injuries.
